Azerbaijan joins WorldSkills competition in Shanghai

The 48th WorldSkills Competition “WorldSkills Shanghai 2026,” has officially kicked off in China.
The event, running through September 26, brings together 1,400 participants from 70 countries to compete in 64 skills across six sectors. Azerbaijan is represented in seven skills.
Ilgar Bayramli, Director of the State Agency for Vocational Education and official representative of the “WorldSkills Azerbaijan” platform, leads the Azerbaijani delegation at the competition.
At the ceremony, Elvar Bakshiyev, an expert in “Automobile Technology,” took an oath on behalf of the platform to comply with the “WorldSkills” rules.
During the four-day competition, eight Azerbaijani competitors will compete in seven skills, including Welding, Automobile Technology, Electronics, Web Technologies, Cooking, and Cyber Security.
The team, comprising eight competitors and seven experts, was selected from the winners of the 2025–2026 “WS Azerbaijan” national competitions and underwent preparatory training ahead of “WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.”
Azerbaijan joined WorldSkills International, known as the “Olympics of skills and professions,” as its 85th full member in 2020.
The “WorldSkills Azerbaijan” Public Union was established as the national platform in 2023.
