PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ANNOUNCED “PERSON OF THE YEAR 2009”
Baku, February 26 (AZERTAC). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has been announced the “Person of the Year 2009”. This annual Russian Grand Prix is being awarded to the people who have most brightly proved themselves in the political, social, governmental spheres of their countries during the year.
This annual national award “Person of Year” the ceremony of which took place on February 25, in the Kremlin, has been established by the Russian News Agency “RBC”.
According to the Award founders, the “Person of the Year” is a man, who embodies significant tendency of development of the country and forms country`s future.
Winners of the Award are determined by authoritative advisory council which includes prominent politicians, public and political figures, the heads of major companies, men of science and culture and media representatives.
Many members of advisory council became the “Person of Year” as the people who have made essential personal contribution to development of their country. Among them is Sergey Lavrov, Arkady Dvorkovich, German Gref, Vladimir Yakunin, Alexey Miller, Alexander Shokhin, Yuri Lyubimov, Mark Zakharov, Galina Vishnevskaya, Iosif Kobzon, Konstantin Ernst, Vladislav Tretyak and others.
The “Person of the Year” Award is handed over in socio-political and business spheres, and also in special nominations. The highest award is the Grand Prix. Its owners are awarded the “Slava Otechestvo” order.
Selection of winners was held on the backdrop of economic crisis, which largely determined the composition of the winners. Most of the winners were awarded thanks to successfully overcoming the crisis.
