RUSSIA AND AZERBAIJAN DISCUSS STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP
Baku, April 15 (AZERTAC). A “roundtable” meeting entitled “Russia and Azerbaijan: towards strengthening strategic partnership by expansion of interregional cooperation” has been held today in Azerbaijan`s capital.
Attending the event were Azerbaijan`s and Russian state and government officials including head of the Azerbaijan Presidential Administration`s socio-political department Ali Hasanov and the Chairman of the Russian State Duma`s Standing Committee for CIS Aleksey Ostrovsky.
Discussions at the meeting dealt with prospects for strengthening social, economic and cultural relations between the two countries.
Head of the Azerbaijan parliament`s Economic Policy Committee Ziyad Samadzadeh stressed the importance of the event, adding cooperation between two countries were developing and strengthening.
Addresing the event, Head of the Azerbaijan Presidential administration`s socio-political department Ali Hasanov said reciprocal visits of the heads of state contribute to succesfull development of bilateral relations between the two countries.
“The strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Russia are developing. Russia always regards Azerbaijan as an equal partner, and Azerbaijan, in return, assesses Russia as a great state, friend and partner and places high priority on relations with this country” said head of the president administration`s socio-political department Ali Hasanov.
Other speakers included the Chairman of the Russian State Duma`s Standing Committee for CIS Aleksey Ostrovsky and chief of the Presidential Administration`s department for Interregional and Cultural Relations with foreign countries Sergey Vinokourov.
The "roundtable" ended with the adoption of the joint declaration.
