Situation of journalists` trade union movement discussed in Baku
Baku, December 16 (AZERTAC). Baku hosted a conference on situation of journalists` trade union movement in Azerbaijan.
The event was co-organized by EU Delegation to Azerbaijan and Swedish LO-TCO organization.
Opening the conference, “Ethical journalism initiative - Azerbaijan” project`s coordinator Mushfig Alasgarli said the meeting will discuss social situation of journalists, role of trade unions in this field and further activities.
Speaking in the event, chief of the sector for sociopolitical issues of the Presidential Administration Vugar Aliyev spoke of state care for development of mass media. He noted importance of establishment of the Fund of State Support to the Development of Mass Media under the President of Azerbaijan towards the relevant direction.
Representative of International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) Adrien Collin addressed the conference and briefed the attendees on the organization`s activity towards protection of journalists` rights.
Speaking in the meeting, chairman of Azerbaijan Press Council Aflatun Amashov stressed significance of expanding trade unions` activity towards protection of journalists` rights. He pointed out trade unions play important role and is helpful in effective communication between the journalists and employers.
Executive director of the Fund of State Support to the Development of Mass Media Vugar Safarli informed the participants about the projects carried out by the Fund.
The participants adopted appropriate declaration.
