SOCAR hosts event marking National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s 103rd anniversary

On 8 May, SOCAR hosted an event dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the founder of modern independent Azerbaijan and the architect of the country’s new energy strategy.
The event began with the laying of flowers in front of the bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev at SOCAR’s Head Office, where his cherished memory was honored with deep respect.
The ceremony opened with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Addressing the event, SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf highlighted the exceptional services of the great statesman and visionary leader Heydar Aliyev, who played a historic role in leading Azerbaijan through complex challenges, strengthening the country’s independence and laying the foundations of modern Azerbaijan.
Highlighting the special place of the national energy strategy within the development course defined by the National Leader, the SOCAR President noted that the energy strategy launched with the “Contract of the Century” created the foundation for Azerbaijan’s comprehensive development and significantly strengthened the country’s position on the global energy map.
Rovshan Najaf also emphasized that the strategic development concept established by the National Leader is being successfully continued today under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev in line with the challenges of the modern era. Under the decisive leadership of the President, Azerbaijan, having achieved the most glorious victories in its history, is now creating new opportunities for stability, cooperation and development in the region. Today, Azerbaijan stands among the leading states successfully implementing strategic projects and initiatives not only regionally, but also across a broader geography.
Gulnara Huseynova, daughter of distinguished oilman and driller Israfil Huseynov, also addressed the event, speaking about the attention and care shown by the National Leader toward oil workers and their families, and sharing her father’s memories of Heydar Aliyev.
In his remarks, Elmir Gojayev, Group Leader for Production Operations at “SOCAR Upstream Operations Management”, spoke about the youth policy founded by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as the broad opportunities created for the comprehensive development of young people in Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
The event continued with the screening of a video presentation featuring photographs reflecting the life and activities of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and his contributions to the development of Azerbaijan’s oil industry, accompanied on the tar by multiple competition laureate Ismayil Zulfigarov.
The ceremony concluded with a concert program dedicated to the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The “Rhythm” dance group first performed a traditional Azerbaijani dance composition, followed by performances by People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Samir Jafarov, who sang a selection of musical pieces cherished by the National Leader and dedicated to love for the Motherland.
