TURKEY WARNS US LAWMAKERS AGAINST PASSING BILL ON “ARMENIAN GENOCIDE”
Ankara, March 2 (AZERTAC). Turkey warned US lawmakers against passing a bill on the so-called “Armenian genocide”, Burak Ozugergin, spokesman of the Turkish MIA said.
As earlier reported, the US House Foreign Affairs Committee is scheduled to vote on the resolution of the said bill (number 252), which later would be sent for consideration in the Congress.
At his words, numerous top officials of the United States were also informed about the protest.
According to Burak Ozugergin, the official Ankara expects that the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives will reject the bill which would damage Turkish-American relations and the process of normalization of communications between two countries. “Turkey hopes that the US Congressmen will understand the harm the bill can make to the efforts for establishment of peace and stability on South Caucasus, and will approach to the question responsibly”, the spokesman said.
