UNESCO official: Lasting peace begins with eliminating prejudice and educating children
Baku, October 27, AZERTAC
“We have gathered at a time when the world is experiencing a period of fragmentation and polarization. In order to build peaceful societies and prevent conflicts, it is essential to first eliminate the prejudices and inequalities that divide communities. This is an integral part of the key mission UNESCO has pursued since its founding,” said Åsa Regnér, Deputy Director-General of UNESCO, at the opening ceremony of the 7th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, themed “Dialogue for a Shared Future,” in Baku.
“UNESCO will continue its cooperation with Azerbaijan and all its partners to make intercultural dialogue a real, practical force for peace and for people everywhere in the world,” Åsa Regnér added.
