Akkan Suver: Azerbaijan demonstrates great respect for humanity by hosting COP29
Baku, November 2, AZERTAC
“Azerbaijan demonstrates profound regard for humanity, peace, and our collective future by hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change,” stated Professor Akkan Suver, President of the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation, in his remarks to AZERTAC.
Professor Suver noted that, alongside wars, devastations, and major social issues confronting our world, natural phenomena such as the climate crisis, water shortages, deforestation, and the loss of green spaces signify an impending disaster. “The world is increasingly distancing itself from green spaces, ecological living, and human values. In this challenging period for our planet’s future, we, as the Marmara Group Foundation, regard the COP29 hosted by Baku as fundamentally important. This event serves as a call from Azerbaijan for stability, peace, and the future of humanity. Azerbaijan's initiative extends beyond environmental concerns; it also seeks to foster solidarity against wars, conflicts, genocides, and the plight of internally displaced persons (IDPs) facing humanity.”
Akkan Suver expressed hope that world leaders will heed Azerbaijan’s call and contribute fresh ideas and new initiatives. He emphasized that this event will bring together statesmen and religious leaders, adding special meaning and value to the call for cooperation.
