Azerbaijan's sustainable urban development experience highlighted at Innovate4Cities Conference in Nairobi

The three-day Innovate4Cities Conference (I4C26) on climate-resilient cities was held in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, with more than three thousand in-person and online participants.
The participants were briefed on the outcomes of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) and World Environment Day (WED2026), held in Azerbaijan a few weeks ago.
Ambassador Sultan Hajiyev, Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to UN-Habitat, delivered speeches on Azerbaijan's experiences and initiatives in sustainable urban development and on the related impacts of climate change, as well as on its global contributions and the historic results achieved through prestigious UN events such as COP29, WUF13, and WED2026, which the country hosted.
Fuad Karimli, Secretary General of the Global South NGO Platform (GSNP), participated as a moderator and speaker in a number of side events held as part of the conference.
He also made presentations on the role of civil society organizations in sustainable urban planning and climate action, the importance of the WUF13 NGO Forum, and Azerbaijan's activities in this area.
