`AZERBAIJAN AND US – STRATEGIC ALLIES`
Baku, December 16 (AZERTAC). “Some media outlets try to present as an anti-American campaign the discontent of Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh and other non-governmental organizations over US Congress`s providing financial aid to separatists in Nagorno-Karabakh. There is no anti-American campaign,” said chief of the Presidential Administration’s department for socio-political affairs Ali Hasanov.
“Azerbaijan and US are strategic allies and the country is committed to this principle. Azerbaijan intends to continue these allied relations,” said Hasanov. He pointed out the aid to post-soviet countries the US Congress allocates from the state budget cause discrepancy. The discrepancy comes from special aid to Nagorno-Karabakh.
“We do not oppose the aid to needy and suffering people in Nagorno-Karabakh. However, people who really need this assistance are the Azerbaijani community, which was uprooted from its home and has lived in unbearable conditions in camps during many years,” said Hasanov
According to him, Azerbaijan urge the US congressmen to take into account this fact. It has a negative impact on resolution of the conflict, he added.
