Azerbaijan ranks 31st in Environmental Performance Index

Azerbaijan has ranked 31st among 180 countries in the Environmental Performance Index 2016 drawn up by Yale and Columbia universities. With 83.78 points out of 100, Azerbaijan outclassed other developed countries such as Japan, Belgium, Netherlands. Azerbaijan beat neighboring Georgia by 20 points, ranking just 7 points behind Finland which topped the rankings.
Azerbaijan outclassed CIS countries in the index.
The Environmental Performance Index ranks how well countries perform on high-priority environmental issues in two broad policy areas: protection of human health from environmental harm and protection of ecosystems.
