Azerbaijan sees 30% growth in tourist numbers

The number of foreign tourists visiting Azerbaijan in the first five months of this year increased 30% against the same period in 2016, Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev has told a meeting of the National Tourism Promotion Bureau with domestic and foreign tour operators and travel agencies in Baku. “In the first five months in 2016 we received 768,000 tourists, while this year the number increased to 956,000, which means a 30% growth.”
“Last May saw 174,000 foreign tourists visit our country, and this May this number was 211,000,” said Garayev, describing this as “a pretty good increase”.
