Azerbaijan to host series of events on World Environment Day
Baku, May 15, AZERTAC
On June 5, Azerbaijan will host a series of events dedicated to World Environment Day under the slogan “Inspired by Nature. For the Climate. For Our Future.” The events will be organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
Government agencies, private sector entities, NGOs, educational institutions, and citizens are invited to participate through a variety of environmental initiatives, including tree-planting campaigns, clean-up activities, awareness programs, exhibitions, outdoor events, and public climate action initiatives.
World Environment Day 2026 calls for collective action on climate issues. The campaign emphasizes that every environmental decision made by individuals, cities, companies, and governments sends an important message. Sharing stories, joining initiatives, supporting solutions, and encouraging others to take action are all regarded as meaningful contributions to climate action.
As part of the campaign, local and international participants are encouraged to share observations on the impacts of climate change and potential solutions using the hashtags #NowForClimate and #İndiİqlimNaminə.
The events will be featured on the official World Environment Day platform and presented to an international audience. Organizations and individuals will also be able to register their activities on the global map, linking local initiatives to the broader international movement.
Participants may additionally join UNEP’s #NowForClimate dance challenge by creating and sharing short videos reflecting solidarity in climate action, inviting others to take part in the initiative.
Further information on participation opportunities and campaign updates is available on the official platform, wed2026.az.
The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has invited government institutions, companies, non-governmental organizations, and other partners to contribute to the global campaign through their environmental projects and initiatives.
Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972, World Environment Day is one of the leading global initiatives aimed at promoting environmental awareness and strengthening efforts to combat climate change. The campaign seeks to increase public engagement and encourage both individuals and institutions to contribute to environmental protection.
