AZERI FM MEETS IRANIAN LEADER

Baku, 16 December (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Tehran.

The Azerbaijani FM said the two countries enjoy “close” cooperation, expressing assurance it would further develop.

The minister gave detailed information to Ahmadinejad on peace talks over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Mammadyarov thanked Iran for its support to Azerbaijan on the international level.

The Iranian President said “cooperation between the two countries is based on deep historic roots”. Ahmadinejad said his country was ready to support establishment of peace in the region, wishing prompt resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
