Baku hosts 11th edition of TransCaspian 2012
Baku, June 13 (AZERTAC). Today, the 11th edition of TransCaspian, the International Transport, Transit & Logistics Exhibition has opened at Baku Expo Centre. Since its launch, the event has played a key role in developing Azerbaijan’s transport potential, along with promoting cooperation between sector professionals in the region, Iteca Caspian reported.
At the opening ceremony, Azerbaijani Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov stressed traditional character of TransCaspian and its role in raising foreign companies’ investments in the sector.
Ziya Mammadov added that the economic and political stability in the country also promote to inflow of investments.
This year, over 70 companies from 15 countries are set to exhibit, with the exhibition’s floor space growing by 25%. Around 40% of exhibiting companies are newcomers to the event, representing countries such as Azerbaijan, Germany, Georgia, Italy, Latvia, the UAE, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, France, the Czech Republic, and many others. Croatian companies will exhibit for the first time, and for the second year running the exhibition will feature a Latvian national pavilion.
Several Government bodies participate alongside the commercial companies, including the Ministry of Transport of the Azerbaijan Republic, Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, the Azerbaijan State Caspian Sea Shipping Company, and the State Road Transport Service of Azerbaijan Republic. Each of these exhibitors will be presenting current transport projects taking place within the region.
The 2nd Caspian International Exhibition of Road Infrastructure & Public Transport is taking place in parallel with TransCaspian 2012.
