Baku to host 4th International Congress of Eurasian Archaeology
Baku, September 28 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Culture and Tourism jointly with the “MIRAS” Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage (Azerbaijan) and Dokuz Eylul University of Center for Studies on Caucasian & Central Asian Archaeology (Turkey) will organize the 4th International Congress of Eurasian Archaeology, (ICEA) in Aghsu, Azerbaijan on 1-5 October 2012.
The basic theme of the conference is “Prospects for development of Archaeological Research and Archaeo-Tourism in Eurasian Region”.
The opening ceremony of the conference will he held on October 2 in the “Medieval Agsu Town” archaeological tourism complex. The event will be attended by representatives of diplomatic corps, local and foreign scientific and culture figures, and the media.
The purpose of the conference is to bring together archaeologists who have conducted excavations on the monuments covering a historical stage of the old times to the last Middle Ages in the Eurasian region; ethnographers who have investigated ethnical specification of people; and scientists and managers who have studied the scientific and practical basis of archaeological and ethnographic tourism.
Archaeological excavations, scientific research implemented lately in Azerbaijan, as well as large-scale explorations in the medieval Agsu town created the circumstance for arrangement of this conference in Azerbaijan.
Topics will include: Archaeology (From the earliest time to Middle Ages), history, rock art, archaeo-tourism, ethnography, mythology and history of Art.
Accepted reports will be published in the Conference book.
During the event, the attendees will have an opportunity to make a tour to Agsu, Shamakhy and Ismayilli regions to familiarize themselves with the patterns of cultural heritage there.
