BTE PROJECT’S EQUIPMENT BEING PREPARED
Currently, in Singapore and Malaysia are prepared equipment for the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline project, evaluated at $3 billion, executive director of the Company Michael Townsend said a news conference. According to him, plans of the Russian ‘Gasprom’ Company in Georgia can never impede the said project and it will certainly be realized. ‘Nobody is to stop half-way’, he stressed. Major part of the gas to be transported by the future gas pipeline is to be sold to Turkey, Mr. Michael Townsend added. The extracted reserves at the Shahdeniz prospect are evaluated at 625 billion cubic meters. In the frame of first phase of the Project, there already exist an agreement on sale to Turkey 6,3 billion cubic meters, to Azerbaijan – 1,5 billion cubic meters, and Georgia – 0,8 billion cubic meters of gas averagely. Greece, Romania and a number of the Eastern European countries also stated for purchase of natural gas.
