CDM Carbon Project submitted by “Tamiz Shahar” effectively registered
Baku, 26 February (AZERTAC). Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) carbon project of Waste-to-Energy Plant submitted by “Tamiz Shahar” JSC was successfully registered in the United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The first Waste-to-Energy Plant in our country started to operate in December, 2012 and it will prevent formation of gases emitted to the environment causing greenhouse effect as a result of waste decomposition. Certified emission reductions (CER) is estimated to be equal to 661462 tones of CO2 (gases generating greenhouse effect) within the scope of carbon project that was registered for 10 years` period.
Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) allows emission-reduction projects in developing countries to earn certified emission reductions (CER) credits, each equivalent to one tone of CO2.The CDM is organized by United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The mechanism stimulates sustainable development and emission reductions, while giving industrialized countries some flexibility in how they meet their emission reduction limitation targets.
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is an international environmental treaty negotiated at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), informally known as the Earth Summit, held in Rio de Janeiro from June 3 to 14, 1992.
The objective of the treaty is to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system.
