Clean City Project on CDM carbon credits registered by UN convention
Baku, January 15 (AZERTAC). Project of carbon credits on the Baku plant on solid waste incineration, submitted by Tamiz Shahar OJSC (Clean City) to the UN in accordance with Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) later last year has been successfully registered by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
According to the OJSC, he country’s first plant on disposal of household waste, the Baku solid waste incineration plant, put into operation in December 2012, will prevent the emission of greenhouse gases produced by the decomposition of waste.
Number of certified emission reductions within the registered 10-year carbon project is approximately 661,462 tons of CO2 (greenhouse gas emissions).
With the purpose to diminish harmful emissions in developing countries, CDM helps getting carbon credits, each of which is equal to one ton of CO2.
“Tamiz Shahar” JSC was entered into the state registration on March 12, 2009 and launched its activity. “Tamiz Shahar” JSC being a state enterprise has built its administrative activity independently, the supervision of its management and overall activity is carried out by the State Committee for Property Issues and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan as well as by a Supervisory Board functioning under the auspices of the Ministry of Economic Development.
