COP29 outcomes highlighted at parliamentary meeting in Belém

Nigar Arpadarai, MP and UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 Azerbaijan, attended the parliamentary meeting held as part of the COP30 in the Brazilian city of Belém.
Co-organized by the Brazilian Parliament and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) this year, the IPU's parliamentary meeting—the key COP platform for national parliaments—aims to strengthen the legislative role in fighting global climate change and identifying shared solutions.
The UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 addressed a panel discussion on “Strengthening parliamentary activities for the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)” at the event. She shared her views on the historical significance of the outcomes of COP29, which was hosted by Baku last year, as well as stressed the significance of enhancing parliamentary activities in the fight against climate change.
