COP29 Presidency participates in London Climate Action Week 2025

Bonn, June 23, AZERTAC
“The COP29 Presidency is represented at London Climate Action Week 2025 from June 21 to 29,” Nigar Arpadarai, UN climate change high-level champion for COP29 Azerbaijan, told AZERTAC.
“London Climate Action Week 2025 is one of the largest climate events in the world. For example, last year, about 50,000 people attended this event, with more than 300 sessions held throughout the week. That is why it is very important for us to be here.
I would like to emphasize that during this week, as the COP29 Presidency, we are scheduled to participate in various events, we have bilateral meetings, and each team member has a tailored agenda. For example, a roundtable on finance was held at the Commonwealth Secretariat office, and we enjoyed very interesting discussions with our different partners,” Nigar Arpadarai emphasized.
"Overall, we will participate in both bilateral meetings and events organized by various sectors, including the private sector and companies. These meetings include events on insurance, agriculture, energy, and other sectors. We are working here with both non-state actors and officials to implement the historic decisions of COP29 in the next phase."
“As you know, one of the main outcomes at COP29 was a $300 billion finance decision, with the goal of scaling it up to $1.3 trillion — the ' Belém to Baku ' Roadmap. Now we are working with the COP30 team and, in this regard, we are joining various roundtables to ensure the private sector becomes engaged and contributes to the discussions,” she underlined.
“We will also be hosting our own events here. For example, we plan to hold a very interesting event on the green economy in partnership with the Nizami Ganjavi Center. We expect participation from both officials and private sector representatives. Additionally, major organizations and large companies are expected to participate.”
“Let me remind you that London Climate Action Week 2025 is a partner of Baku Climate Action Week. The second Climate Action Week will be held in Baku from September 29 to October 3," Nigar Arpadarai added.
