Earthquake again hits Azerbaijan’s sector of Caspian
A 3.10 magnitude quake was recorded on Friday 01:10:24 local time in the Azerbaijan’s sector of the Caspian Sea. The epicenter was 40 km to the east from Astara city, Azerbaijan’s Seismic Survey Center under the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) said on Friday
Baku, November 18 (AZERTAC). A 3.10 magnitude quake was recorded on Friday 01:10:24 local time in the Azerbaijan’s sector of the Caspian Sea. The epicenter was 40 km to the east from Astara city, Azerbaijan’s Seismic Survey Center under the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) said on Friday.
Earlier on Thursday, magnitude 3.40 earthquake has struck the Caspian Sea at 09:39:11 local time. The epicenter was 230 km south-east from Baku.
Magnitude 4.1 and 3.4 earthquakes were also registered in the Caspian, offshore Azerbaijan, on November 15 and 16.
A seismological background is normal in Azerbaijan and there is no need for concern, according to Seismic Survey Center of Azerbaijan. No tsunami warning, injuries or damage reports issued at this time.
The strongest since 1842 in Baku was the earthquake occurred on November 25, 2000, measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale with an epicenter 6.3. The earthquake was three minutes later followed by a quake measuring 5.9 and also affected suburbs and neighboring cities.
