Baku, December 14 (AZERTAC). An Eastern partnership special cooperation program was approved at a summit of the European Union in Brussels.

EU Commissioner for External Relations and New Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner told journalists that the program`s participating members were ready to sign an association agreement. But it does not mean the document will be signed in the near future, noted the commissioner, adding the Eastern partnership member states should fulfill a package of political and economic reforms and fundamental changes presented to them. “This document provides for favorable conditions for cooperation with the European Union in various forms.”

According to the commissioner, the summit decided to allocate €600 million financial assistance to the Program`s participating states which should spend the money to strengthen government institutions and small enterprises.

The Eastern Partnership program includes Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus and Armenia.
