Participants of the EU Brussels Summit adopted a Declaration on combat against terrorism.

Speaking at the Summit, the Prime Minister of Ireland Bertie Ahern stressed the necessity of making joint efforts against this evil and the European Union countries. According to the Declaration, should any member-country of the European Union undergo attacks of the terrorists, other member-states would render due assistance.

At the Summit, also was approved the issue of organizing of the system of data exchange on the suspected in the terror acts.

Former foreign minister of the Netherlands was elected as the coordinator on EU anti-terror activity. He will work directly under subordination of the EU High Commissioner on foreign policy and security affairs Mr. Javier Solana
