IDEA establishes birdhouses in Bishkek
Baku, April 7 (AZERTAC). Bird houses made on the design of the winner of the contest of International Dialogue for Environmental Action - IDEA are being installed in city parks of the capital and major cities of Kyrgyzstan.
Setting birdhouses, which plays a significant role in the restoration of the ecological balance of cities, coincided with the International Migratory Bird Day, which is celebrated annually on 1 April, according to the organization.
Competition for the best design of the birdhouse, announced by IDEA in May last year, was won by the designer of Kyrgyzstan, a 26-year-old Tatiana Biryugina.
"From a professional point of view I was interested to come up with a design of housing for the birds, which are very demanding to their houses," says Tatiana.
Bishkek has problems with the ecological system - Afghan starlings which peck eggs of local birds (sparrows, swallows) are increasing, which reduces the number of urban birds.
The negative impact of humans on the environment causes a serious ecosystem degradation and destruction of plants and animals. This rapid decline in biodiversity also includes the loss of species of birds.
According to MP of the city council of Bishkek Elvira Sariyeva, the birds can be of great assistance to the city, and birdhouses are an affordable way to help restore the ecological balance.
"These bird houses will not solve all the problems of urban birds, but at least will help to ensure their nesting sites," she said.
The birdhouses made by the design of the IDEA competition winner will also be installed in parks and residential areas of Baku, Vilnius, Moscow and London.
