Kazakhstan to develop satellite for Mongolia
Baku, October 30, AZERTAC
Kazakhstan and Mongolia inked a historic investment agreement aimed at creation and development of the Earth remote sensing satellites system. According to the Kazakh Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry, Kazakhstan will develop a satellite for Mongolia, Kazinform News Agency reports.
An independent control of the satellites by each of the sides will provide Kazakhstan and Mongolia with access to up-to-date data for monitoring the natural resources and agriculture development, the ministry said.
“It should be noted that this will be the first export of Kazakhstani satellite in the country’s history, entirely developed by local engineers. The satellite will be adapted to the needs of Mongolia, which will let improve regional satellite infrastructure and underscore Kazakhstan’s growing potential in the field of space technologies,” Kazakh Minister Zhaslan Madiyev said.
The remote sensing technologies will enable both sides to more effectively monitor the condition of lands, manage water resources and analyze the changes in environment.
“The project is being implemented on the ground of Kazakhstan’s National Space Center with the participation of Mongolian engineers. The Kazakh side will also train Mongolian specialists at all stages of the project’s implementation, to transfer knowledge and strengthen professional ties. Such interaction will let improve Mongolian engineers’ qualification and deepen scientific and technical cooperation between the two states. The project symbolizes Kazakhstan’s and Mongolia’s aspiration to develop advanced technologies, discover new prospects for the partnership in space development and sustainable use of natural resources,” a press-release from the ministry reads.
