Time for San Marino!
Baku, May 14 (AZERTAC). It's a happy day for Valentina Monetta, Ralph Siegel and the San Marino delegation as they were eager to reach the stage of the Baku Crystal Hall for the first rehearsal of The Social Network Song.
The second rehearsal of today was for song number 11 in the First Semi-Final, The Social Network Song (oh oh-uh-oh oh). We met with the San Marinese singer Valentina Monetta and her team backstage.
The composer of the song, the German Ralph Siegel, is a legend of the Eurovision Song Contest: "This is my 40th Eurovision Song Contest entry and the 20th international one". We confirm that his first composition to reach the contest was Bye Bye, I Love You which Ireen Sheer performed on behalf of Luxembourg in 1974.
The singer Valentina Monetta is supported on stage by 5 backing singers and her laptop with which she connects to the social network that she loves so much.
The story of Valentina Monetta representing San Marino is a sort of fairy tale. Taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest requires organisation, partners, resources, the right song and the right interpreter. SMtv in San Marino started working on that last autumn, evaluating different proposals. And initially Valentina wasn’t one of them!
The internal selection started, the proposals left were finally two and then one, but at the very last moment the unplanned happened. They needed a good, young, Sammarinese singer and they needed her straight away.
