Mexico hosts 94th Session of UNWTO Executive Council
Baku, October 31 (AZERTAC). The 94th Session of the Executive Council of the United Nations` World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) was held on October 23-25 in the city of Campeche, Mexico.
According to eturbonews.com, the meeting was attended by representatives from more than 50 nations, who analyzed the current state of tourism and align strategies to meet their objectives - increased global visitor numbers and job creation.
Secretary Guevara noted that amid the global financial crisis, the tourism industry remains a lever of economic development and so the work of the UNWTO in Campeche is to identify mechanisms to boost tourism.
Secretary General Taleb Rifai made a report on current state of tourism sector, main tendencies, implementation of program for 2012-2013 and financial position of the organization.
The Executive Council decided to hold the next session in Belgrade, Serbia, next May.
Hungary, Jamaica and Mozambique were elected as chairs and co-chairs of the Executive Committee for 2013.
Employee of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism Rauf Pashayev attended the event.
