Murat Kurum: We are combining our experiences in preparations for COP31

The next consultation meeting on the preparatory process for the 31st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP31) to the UNFCCC was held in Istanbul, Türkiye.
During the meeting, Murat Kurum, Türkiye’s Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and President of COP31, emphasized that Azerbaijan, Brazil, and Türkiye Presidencies are working closely together, combining their experiences in preparation for COP31.
He noted that the meeting established a working framework aimed at strengthening coordination among the chairmanship countries, harmonizing processes, and achieving concrete outcomes.
“We are working in parallel with the action agenda, taking into account all main directions such as mitigation, adaptation, and financing,” he stressed.
The meeting was attended by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister and COP29 Lead Negotiator Yalchin Rafiyev, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Simon Stiell, and COP30 President André Corrêa do Lago.
