OSCE Permanent Council discusses Nagorno-Karabakh conflict
Vienna, March 22 (AZERTAC). The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs spoke at the meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council here on Thursday.
Co-chairs pointed out foreign ministers of countries they represent issued the statement on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the formal request to convene a conference on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Co-chairs noted the statement is an indicator of solidarity and intention to move towards peace.
They called on the sides to take necessary steps to achieve a lasting and peaceful settlement
Speaking at the event, Azerbaijan`s representative to the OSCE Israfilov told of the need to find a peaceful solution to the conflict and give up maximalist stance. He expressed concern over the continuing status-quo and Armenia`s non-constructive position based on the fait accompli.
Israfilov pointed out Azerbaijan is interested in increasing effectiveness of the Minsk Group.
The Permanent representative underlined he expects stronger calls from OSCE member countries to withdraw Armenian troops from occupied lands. He also suggested starting a dialogue between both communities in order to create a good environment for talks.
