President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto begins two-day official visit to Pakistan

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto began a two-day official visit to Pakistan on Monday at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation of key ministers and senior officials.
President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, along with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, received President Prabowo upon his arrival at Nur Khan Airbase. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this marks President Prabowo’s first visit to Pakistan, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During his visit, President Prabowo will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and meet with President Zardari and the Chief of Army Staff & Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The discussions will cover a broad agenda, including trade, investment, defence, health, IT, climate, education, culture, and regional and global cooperation. Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the visit.
Pakistan and Indonesia share close and long-standing ties underpinned by common values and mutual interests. President Prabowo’s visit aims to deepen bilateral relations and expand mutually beneficial cooperation, contributing to the growth and diversification of partnership between the two nations.
According to media reports, Indonesia-Pakistan trade reached $3.3 billion from January to October 2025, with Indonesian exports driving the majority of trade. Indonesia mainly exports goods, including palm oil, to Pakistan, which totaled $3.2 billion during the ten-month period.
