Representatives of Azerbaijan to attend 4th session of General Assembly of UNESCO
Baku, June 2 (AZERTAC). The fourth session of the General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage will be held from 4 to 8 June 2012 at UNESCO Headquarters.
During this session, the General Assembly will be invited to revise some of the Operational Directives in the light of the experience gained by the Intergovernmental Committee in their implementation since 2008. Revision proposals concern the modalities of the examination and the maximum ceiling of files to be treated annually by the Committee. The General Assembly will also proceed with accreditation of non-governmental organizations for advisory services to the Committee and will conduct an election for the renewal of half of the Members of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The sides will also discuss the issue of holding the next year’s anniversary event of the Convention on the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO and the Intergovernmental Committee meeting in Baku.
The Director of International Relations and Cultural Programs Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan Vasif Eyvazzade and the independent expert of UNESCO Sanuber Baghirova will represent Azerbaijan in The fourth session of the General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
