‘The US government hails Azerbaijan`s contribution to peacemaking processes in Afghanistan’

Azerbaijan lies at the heart of efforts to ensure Afghanistan`s economic integration into the region, and the US government lauds Azerbaijan for its contribution to the peacemaking processes in Afghanistan, the US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Alice Wells told a press conference in Baku.
Wells said that representatives of more than 50 countries are integrated into the International Contact Group on Afghanistan. “They support the peacemaking processes in Afghanistan and works done by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in this field. During our Baku meeting, we also strongly supported President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani`s role in establishing peace. The US-Azerbaijan cooperation on Afghanistan is one of the key factors in deepening relations with Azerbaijan. We thank the government of Azerbaijan for this support. The fact of choosing Baku as a place of meeting is manifestation of the role the country plays. Azerbaijan plays an important role in Afghanistan,” Wells added.
