UNEP OFFICIAL JOINS TREE PLANTING DRIVE IN BAKU
Baku, June 3 (AZERTAC). Visiting Mr. Christophe Bouvier, Director of UNEP (United Nations Environment Program) Regional Office for Europe is taking part in a tree planting drive organized by the Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. The campaign is taking place at the 10 km-section of Zykh-Heydar Aliyev international airport road. It involved Ministry`s staffers, representatives of state, non-governmental and international organizations, as well as diplomats and media.
As part of his visit Mr. Christophe Bouvier earlier paid tribute to National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, outstanding ophthalmologist Zarifa Aliyeva at the Alley of Honors and Azerbaijani heroes at the Alley of Martyrs.
UNEP announced that three city hubs would lead World Environment Day 2010 celebrations in Europe with major public events in Geneva (Switzerland), Baku (Azerbaijan) and Genova (Italy).
