United Neutral Georgia movement established as political party
Baku, December 1, AZERTAC
The United Neutral Georgia movement has been officially founded as a political union in Georgia. During its inaugural congress today, the union’s charter was approved, and the party’s leadership, along with other organizational structures, were elected, according to the 1TV.ge.
Vakhtang Shakarishvili, Levan Nikoleishvili, and Bidzina Giorgobiani have been elected to the political council, with Vakhtang Shakarishvili chosen as the executive secretary.
Party leaders emphasize that the core aims of United Neutral Georgia are: safeguarding national and traditional values; securing and maintaining Georgia’s status as an internationally recognised state with permanent neutrality; fostering cooperation with other nations and international organizations aligned with Georgia’s national interests; strengthening Georgia’s independence; promoting economic, social, and cultural development; and restoring the country’s territorial integrity.
According to party leader Vato Shakarishvili, neutrality represents Georgia’s future.
“If we wish to preserve peace and stability, and to realize economic growth, development, and prosperity, neutrality is essential. This is particularly evident amidst the current circumstances surrounding the end of the war in Ukraine. Given the content of the so-called peace agreement, Georgia’s membership in Euro-Atlantic structures, enshrined in our Constitution as a constitutional dogma, has become even more illogical,” Shakarishvili stated.
Furthermore, another party leader, Bidzina Giorgobiani, announced that the party intends to participate in the parliamentary elections scheduled for 2028.
“We will prioritize this issue in our campaign, advocating for Georgia to attain the status of a permanently neutral state. This will bring us closer to restoring territorial integrity, fostering long-term peace within Georgia and the South Caucasus, and establishing clear, enduring relations with our neighboring countries,” Giorgobiani declared.
