Production of zeolite in the territory of Tovuz province was almost suspended, deputy director of the Scientific-research institute of Minerals of the Ministry of Econoly and natural resourses, honred geologist of Azerbaijan Vasif Khalilzadeh said. In the old days, zeolite was widely used in Azerbaijan for purification of water and natural gas from extraneous agents.

The zeolite can also be added as a biologically active additive to birdseed and fodder. It was exported to Russia, Kirghizstan and Turkmenistan in 70-80s last century.

It is necessary to extract rich reserves of zeolite in accordance with the goals arising from the State program of socio-economic development of provinces towards effective using of local raw material resources.
