4th Baku Security Forum held

The 4th Baku Security Forum (BSF), themed “Contemporary Challenges in the Global Security Architecture and Establishment of the Effective Counterterrorism Cooperation Mechanisms,” was held in Baku.
The forum was organized by the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, with the participation of heads and high-ranking representatives of international organizations, as well as special services and security agencies from more than 100 countries.
Following the official opening of the event, an address by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the participants of the forum was read out.
The event then featured the screening of a video highlighting the forum.
Addressing the event, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev, Chief of the State Security Service, welcomed the participants to Baku once again and hailed the continued development of the forum, which was established at the initiative of the President and has expanded its scope from year to year.
The head of the Service emphasized that such high-level events provide broad opportunities for professional discussions on current challenges and serve as a pivotal platform for dialogue among special services and security agencies.
Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev noted that the international security system is undergoing a profound transformation, that traditional mechanisms are unable to respond swiftly to emerging threats, and that reliable partnerships are essential.
Ali Naghiyev stated that it is impossible to tackle transboundary challenges alone, noting that ongoing conflicts have an impact on regional processes, energy markets, and food security.
As part of the Baku Security Forum, a side event entitled “Strengthening National Counter-Terrorism Capabilities through Operational Partnerships” was also co-organized by the State Security Service and the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT).
The discussions addressed the need for effective national and international coordination mechanisms to counter terrorist threats posed by modern technologies, as well as the development of advanced tools such as the Counter-Terrorism Information Exchange System (CTIES), which serves as a platform of the Baku Security Forum.
