ADA University at 41st meeting of International Forum of Diplomatic Training
This year, the Forum was hosted by Diplomatic Academy of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa.
The previous (40th) Meeting was hosted by ADA in September 2012.
Mr. Shahhuseynli briefed to the participants about the diplomatic training programs and the rapidly expanding scope and international network of ADA. He also talked about the recent change in the status and the name of the institution—from “Diplomatic Academy” to “ADA University”.
At the general meeting of the Forum, Dr. Shahhuseynli protested a provocative and politically motivated speech of Vahe Gabrielyan, Director of the Diplomatic School of Armenia on the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He pointed out and responded to the Armenian speaker’s anti-Azerbaijan arguments and manipulative accusations made up of distorted facts and information.
Mr. Shahhuseynli brought the incident to the Agenda of the meeting of the Steering Committee of which ADA was a privileged member as the previous Host of the Forum. He expressed his serious concern that IFDT was not a platform for provocation or manipulation, and that there should be no room for promotion of political agendas of certain governments at such meetings.
Upon Mr. Shahhuseynli’s proposal a set of amendments was made to the governing guidelines of IFTD. The newly adopted rules will subject all the submitted articles to a strict pre-review and will prohibit any such provocative attempts as the Armenian speaker made in Pretoria.
