Istanbul, May 22, AZERTAC
The International Family Forum began in Istanbul on Thursday, with ministers from 27 countries participating. The Azerbaijani delegation is led by Bahar Muradova, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs.
The two-day event, held under the theme “Our Family, Our Future,” is organized by Türkiye’s Family and Social Services Ministry as part of the country’s 2025 Year of the Family initiative.
It features a ministerial session and four panel discussions: “Highly Profitable: The Cost of Global Challenges to Individuals, Families and Society,” “Between Fiction and Reality: The Family in Culture, Art and Media,” “Being a Family in the Age of Screens,” and “The Myth of Overpopulation: How the Global Agenda Contributed to Population Decline.”
In her remarks, Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Minister of Family and Social Services of Türkiye, emphasized the importance of family values.
Addressing the ministerial session, Bahar Muradova described the topic as paramount, adding that discussing it on such a multilateral international platform is valuable for seeking joint responses to deepening spiritual and social challenges.
She stressed that the Azerbaijani state views the family as the foundation of society, protector of national identity, and pillar of strategic development.
“This concept is central to the state’s social policy under the supervision of President Ilham Aliyev, aimed at protecting the institution of the family, as well as national and spiritual values. Furthermore, First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva leads this process nationally and internationally, demonstrating exemplary activity at all levels,” Muradova added.
