AZERBAIJAN, NETHERLANDS EXPLORE SECURITY COOPERATION PROSPECTS
Baku, February 3 (AZERTAC). National Security Minister of Azerbaijan Eldar Mahmudov has met visiting General Intelligence and Security Service Director of the Netherlands Gerard Bouman.
Prior to the meeting, they visited the Alley of Honors to revere memory of the national leader, founder of the modern Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and Alley of Martyrs to pay respect to Azerbaijan`s brave sons who died for territorial integrity and independence of their country.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the work done to fight against transnational organized crime, terrorism, illegal trade turnover and illegal migration.
They underlined the importance of studying each-other`s experience in the energy security and intensifying exchange of information and experts between the Azerbaijani and Dutch security bodies.
Mahmudov said Bouman `s visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to developing cooperation between the two countries` relevant structures.
The Minister spoke of what his country had been doing to ensure security, in particular fight against international terrorism, as well as threats stemming from the uncontrolled areas in Azerbaijan which emerged as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
For his part, Gerard Bouman expressed satisfaction with the results of the discussions which he described as “topical in terms of ensuring security interests of the two countries”.
He also praised the development of relations between relevant bodies of the Netherlands and Azerbaijan.
