Azerbaijan, Pakistan explore agriculture cooperation

Azerbaijan's Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov met with visiting Senior Minister of the Government of Punjab in Pakistan Marriyum Aurangzeb.
Minister Mammadov noted that friendship and brotherly relations based on mutual respect, trust and support continue to develop dynamically between the two countries, adding that Azerbaijan is interested in further expanding cooperation with Pakistan in the agricultural sector, including with Punjab province, which plays a major role in Pakistan’s agricultural production.
Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that Pakistan enjoys friendly relations with Azerbaijan and emphasized the significant potential for expanding cooperation in agriculture.
They discussed strengthening cooperation and the legal framework in the agricultural sector between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, increasing trade in agricultural products, promoting the application of advanced agricultural technologies, as well as fostering cooperation in cotton and rice production and livestock breeding. They also discussed the development of internship and exchange programs in agricultural research and education.
The sides also discussed the export of Azerbaijani agricultural products to Pakistan and possible support mechanisms in this regard.
Minister Majnun Mammadov highlighted the importance of the Caspian Agro exhibition, held annually in Azerbaijan, and invited Pakistani business representatives to actively participate in the event.
The meeting also addressed the activities of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan Working Group on agriculture and food security.
