Azerbaijani violist shines with breathtaking performance in Prague
Prague, April 25, AZERTAC
On April 23, the Antonín Dvořák Hall at the House of Music in Plzeň was transformed into a space of pure musical expression. The graduation concert of violinist Janel Najafli became not only an academic milestone, but also a moment of true artistic revelation.
Opening with Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D major, Najafli demonstrated a rare combination of technical precision and emotional depth. Her performance moved effortlessly between strength and vulnerability, clarity and expressive freedom, as if each phrase was being created in the moment. In collaboration with pianist Barbora Prokopová, the music unfolded with natural balance and sensitivity.
The second part, featuring accordionist Jarmila Vlachová, revealed a more intimate sound world through works by Astor Piazzolla — restrained, passionate, and quietly powerful. In the final part, joined by cellist Michal Haring, the trio created a rich and vibrant musical dialogue, where each instrument blended into a unified emotional landscape.
The audience responded with warm and prolonged applause. Among the guests were representatives of the Azerbaijani Embassy in the Czech Republic, active members of the Azerbaijani diaspora, as well as Leyla Begim, director of the Natavan Society leading the Azerbaijani Cultural House project in Prague. Janel Najafli was presented with a letter of appreciation from Azerbaijani Ambassador to the Czech Republic Yashar Aliyev.
Janel Najafli emerges as an artist of remarkable sensitivity and vision, whose presence on stage transforms music into a living, breathing experience.
The evening felt not like a conclusion, but like the beginning of a remarkable artistic journey.
