Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry, SOCAR organize Energy and AI Hackathon
Baku, October 29, AZERTAC
The Energy & AI Hackathon will be held for university students through a joint partnership between Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy and SOCAR, as part of the Switch Off and Win! energy efficiency campaign implemented by the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan.
The Hackathon, scheduled to take place on 11 December at Baku Higher Oil School, aims to harness students’ innovative and technological potential to address practical challenges in energy efficiency and encourage the development of innovative, practically applicable solutions using artificial intelligence and digital technologies.
As part of the Hackathon, participants will be provided with real energy consumption data. Participating teams will be tasked with analysing the data to identify instances of inefficient energy consumption, determine their potential causes, and develop AI-based digital solutions or functional prototypes aimed at reducing energy waste.
The competition is open to third- and fourth-year undergraduate students, as well as master's and doctoral students pursuing degrees in energy, engineering, information technology, computer science, artificial intelligence, data analytics, economics, and other related disciplines. Teams must consist of a minimum of three and a maximum of five members. Each team is required to complete a registration form.
The Hackathon offers a total prize of 10500 AZN, with 5000 AZN awarded to the first-place team, 3500 AZN to the second-place team, and 2000 AZN to the third-place team.
Students wishing to participate in the Hackathon can apply by 15 November 2026 via the registration form.
