Azerbaijan`s ICT Ministry holds board meeting
A board meeting on outcomes of the 9 months of 2010 was held in the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MCIT) on Wednesday.
Addressing the meeting with an opening speech Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov emphasized the dynamic economic power of the country and its growing international image, improving the welfare of the population and noted that the progress promoted to all round prosperity of Azerbaijan.
Speaking of the tasks arising from the policy speech of the President of Azerbaijan at an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the socio-economic development of the 9 months of 2010 chaired by Azerbaijani President on October 20, the minister spoke of the purposeful reforms carried out by the ministry and the outcomes of their implementation.
Saying as a result of implemented activities, dynamic growth was observed in communications and information technologies sector over the 9 months of current year, the minister underlined that in the reporting period 34% growth rate was observed in ICT sector and 33.9% in telecommunication sector, 20.7% in postal sector. The minister said the real growth rate of GDP compared to the same period last year amounted to 4,1%, while the income share of ICT and postal sectors in the GDP - 2.1%.
Then, during the meeting reports were heard on outcomes of the 9 months of 2010, primary outcomes and future tasks of the project “Development of financial services”, regulation of interconnection issues between operators and providers, providing them with restricted resources, control over the management of allocated resources as well as organization of universal telecommunications and postal services.
Moreover, the meeting was addressed by leaders of several associations and enterprises of the ministry.
Concluding the board meeting Ali Abbasov gave his tasks and instructions calling the meeting participants to make every effort to get higher results saying the country`s leadership highly appreciates the development of information communication technologies.
