Baku hosts 5th Agribusiness Development Forum VIDEO

The 5th Agribusiness Development Forum, dedicated to the national agrifood agenda, was held in Baku as part of Caspian Agro Week.
The event was co-organized by the Agrarian Credit and Development Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Addressing the forum, Majnun Mammadov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture noted that the Forum serves as platform for discussing important issues such as the development of sustainable and competitive agri-food systems, digital transformation, and accelerating the transition of farmers to climate-resilient practices, as well as expanding investment and export opportunities.
In his remarks, Mukhtar Babayev, Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for Climate Issues, stressed that significant reforms are underway in the agro-industrial sector in line with the strategic priorities set by the head of state and the adopted state programs. According to him, key steps include more efficient use of resources, the adoption of climate-resilient approaches, and the development of modern agricultural and livestock complexes.
Muhammad Nasar Hayat, FAO Representative in Azerbaijan, noted that the world is currently in the midst of a digital revolution, with technological solutions becoming a key factor in addressing the agricultural challenges. He underscored that producing more with fewer resources is of great importance.
Qingfeng Zhang, Senior Director of the Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development (AFNR) Sector Office at ADB, described the economic diversification of the agri-food system and the development of competitive and inclusive agriculture as the key requirements of the modern era.
The Forum also saw the awarding of the most successful banking and leasing organizations in the agricultural sector.
The event proceeded with panel and roundtable discussions.
