Finland hosts event marking World Turkic Language Family Day

An event marking the World Turkic Language Family Day, initiated by UNESCO, was held in Helsinki to promote globally the historical, scientific and cultural heritage of Turkic languages.
The official part of the event featured speeches by Ambassador of Türkiye to Finland Deniz Çakar, Chairman of the Islamic Society of Finland Gölten Badraddin, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Finland Azamat Abdraimov, and other officials.
Members of the Finnish Parliament Ville Skinnari and Kimmo Kiljunen also attended the event, highlighting the importance of cultural diversity and international dialogue.
Addressing the gathering, Ulviyya Jabbarova, Head of the Helsinki Azerbaijan House, underscored the significance of the World Turkic Language Family Day, noting that its approval by UNESCO serves to preserve and protect cultural diversity.
The event included an artistic program presented by participants from various countries. Kazakh musicians performed on national musical instruments, while the Tatar Band presented Tatar folk songs.
Leyli Huseynova, an Azerbaijani pianist from the Helsinki Opera and Ballet Theatre, performed musical pieces from Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan.
The program also featured a performance of the song “Sary Gelin” by Finland coordinator Mona Savojifar.
