An event entitled “Highlights of the Silk Road Roadshow,” showcasing the tourism potential of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan and the cultural heritage of the Great Silk Road, was held at the Old National Archives building in Stockholm.
The event brought together representatives of Sweden’s tourism industry and media, as well as representatives of several tourism companies from Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
The presentations highlighted the tourism potential of both countries. Participants were introduced to the historical and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, routes along the Great Silk Road, cultural monuments, and modern travel opportunities available to tourists.
Addressing the event, Ilyosbek Komilov, Third Secretary of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Sweden, outlined his country’s tourism potential. He noted that Uzbekistan welcomed 11.7 million foreign tourists in 2025. The presentation placed particular emphasis on the rich heritage of the Great Silk Road and the facilities and services available to international visitors. The Third Secretary also noted that citizens of more than 90 countries can visit Uzbekistan without a visa.
