International conference in Moldova discusses Nagorno-Karabakh conflict
The event organized by the Public Chamber NGO and held under the aegis of ombudsman of Moldova Aurelia Grigoriu saw a great public attention.
The major goal of the forum is to educate the world community on the fact that fundamental principle of international law - territorial integrity of states - may in no way be violated. and to attract attention of the civil society to promotion of ideas of tolerance and peaceful solution of territorial problems.
The conference was attended by ex-president of Moldova Petru Lucinschi, ambassador of Azerbaijan in Chisinau Namik Aliyev, first deputy prosecutor general Andrea Pintya, ambassadors of Hungary, Ukraine, Czech Republic, ombudsmen and their representatives from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Pakistan, Ukraine etc.
The conference was consisted of several sessions discussing various aspects of the agenda such as the Nagorno-Karabakh, Abkhaz and South Ossetia, Transnistria conflicts, situation in Ukraine.
The plenary session of the conference was addressed by ambassador of Azerbaijan to Moldova Namik Aliyev.
The diplomat touched upon the processes of democracy development in the post-soviet countries, protection of human rights, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Armenian aggression, state of Azerbaijani refugees and IDPs, double standards policy in resolution of territorial conflicts, activity to protect human rights.
The ambassador noted that the world`s leading countries disregard international law and apply double standards in resolution of territorial conflicts and protection of human rights, paying no heed to ethnic purges, creation of monoethnic zones in the South Caucasus pursued by Armenian politicians. It is not accidental that they face similar problems.
The head of the diplomatic mission pointed out that the major issue for Azerbaijan is resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan in order to restore violates rights of a million of Azerbaijani IDPs and refugees from Armenia.
Representative of Israel Arye Gut demonstrated to the conference participants the film “Justice for Khojaly” narrating on the atrocities of Armenians, genocide committed by them in the Azerbaijani town.
The conference was followed by a presentation of the book “The Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict: history and modernity” by Moldovan scholar Ruslan Shevchenko.
