Azerbaijan, China expand cooperation in combating crime

Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev met with Lu Mei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Azerbaijan.
The Prosecutor General highlighted the traditional friendly and partnership relations between Azerbaijan and China, as well as cooperation between the two countries’ law enforcement agencies.
He also emphasized that China has supported Azerbaijan’s rightful position and political initiatives on various international platforms for many years. He noted that, as a result of the political will and regular contacts between the heads of state, Azerbaijan-China relations have developed dynamically in recent years and reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.
The officials stressed that President Ilham Aliyev’s two visits to China in 2025, as well as the signing of the “Joint Statement on the Establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People’s Republic of China” with Chinese President Xi Jinping in April 2025, are significant indicators of the partnership between the two countries.
According to the officials, the high level of interstate relations has also had a positive impact on the development of relations between the prosecutor’s offices of the two countries, creating a favorable basis for expanding cooperation and exchanging experience on issues of mutual interest.
The sides also noted that the meeting held in April 2025 in Shanghai with Ying Yong, Chief Grand Prosecutor and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP) of China, made a significant contribution to inter-agency relations.
The sides subsequently exchanged views on combating various forms of crime, practical cooperation, and prospects for expanding legal and institutional cooperation, reaching an agreement on further cooperation in these areas.
Ambassador Lu Mei expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome.
Speaking about bilateral relations, she emphasized that China attaches great importance to its relations with Azerbaijan, adding that bilateral ties continue to develop successfully at an elevated level.
