Islam Safarli Street: Where history meets modern infrastructure VIDEO
Baku, May 14, AZERTAC
The next feature in AZERTAC’s “If I Were a Tourist” column highlights Islam Safarli Street.
Islam Safarli Street, located across the Sabail and Yasamal districts of Baku, has recently transformed into one of the capital’s most attractive urban spaces thanks to extensive renovation works. Starting from Azerbaijan Avenue, passing through part of Nigar Rafibeyli Street, and extending to Mirzaagha Aliyev Street, the entire area has been fully reconstructed.
Spacious and comfortable sidewalks have been laid out for safe pedestrian movement, a modern lighting system has been installed, green strips have been created, and aesthetic features have been integrated into the urban landscape. In particular, direct access from this area to Central Park offers significant convenience for both residents and visitors. At the same time, a direct and seamless pedestrian route from Fountain Square to Winter Park creates an ideal pathway for walking tourism.
The restoration and preservation of locally significant architectural monuments dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries along the street give the area a unique historical charm. These buildings showcase the elegance of the Baku architectural school and offer visitors a short journey into the city’s past.
Today, Islam Safarli Street stands out as one of the most attractive places for leisure, strolling, and exploring Baku’s architectural heritage.
